Under varying price and contract conditions, the economics of many developments can appear inconclusive. Our multidisciplined approach to evaluating and exploring the alternatives has frequently resulted in developments going ahead where these were previously considered marginal.
Just as important is a recognition of when developments are sub-economic. Our technical approaches provide a thorough understanding of the key technical parameters and their discrete and collective impacts on project economics. Recognising project lenders' objectives, the Firm has frequently been able to adjust project development plans to improve covereage ratios.
Our technical capabilities cover all surface and subsurface disciplines; reservoir modelling and simulation; enhanced oil recovery techniques; drilling and well completion; and facilities from the wellhead through downstream and include HSE aspects. They are complemented by expertise in contractual and fiscal regimes worldwide and commercial insight into contracting strategies for practical field development.
GCA is able to develop and mature field development options and then progress the selected option to full FDP definition. Such work incorporates the provision of multidisciplined teams for reservoir static modelling and numerical simulation and for the design and assessment of field development plans. GCA teams have applied this technology all over the world in every conceivable type of reservoir and project, including immiscible and miscible floods; fractured reservoirs; black oil and volatile oil reservoirs; gas-condensate reservoirs, and new and mature fields.
The need for common-sense understanding of each situation and the guiding principle that the final result of our work must be useable are the cornerstones of our philosophy in reservoir engineering, and indeed in all of our activities.
