The Firm has carried out a wide variety of management and strategy-related assignments for governments and companies in many parts of the world. The scope of our activity ranges from advising senior management on specific problem solutions and opportunities, single property valuations for acquisitions or disposal purposes, corporate valuation, competitor analysis and benchmarking through to entire strategic restructuring.
GCA is frequently engaged to provide independent expert opinion in support of financing and fund-raising operations. The activities in this respect are balanced between working on behalf of both the providers and the users of such capital. Other major projects have included organisational analysis, petroleum legislation and model contract development, license agreements, development of oil and gas policies, management of investment promotion campaigns and marketing opportunities.
The Firm has created proprietary cash flow models covering essentially all of the petroleum production nations which model the tax and royalty systems; production sharing contracts; risk service contracts or buy-backs applicable.
Much of GCA's work in these areas has been directed at enhancing the value of key national and corporate assets by the application of a combination of corporate and financial skills blended with a thorough appreciation of, and experience with, the technical issues and an understanding of the related petroleum assets. In the provision of strategic advice we provide a different perspective by being able to understand not just the issue in question but its consequential impact to the business; by being able to isolate the major issues; by communicating effectively at the highest levels and by keeping a practical overview.
Key to our success in this area has been the ability to place solutions in the cultural environment of the company and/or the country concerned and to ensure that the solutions are what management, be it national or corporate, require rather than conventional wisdom.
